Juyeon Cermics
The wonderfully colourful world of artist Juyeon Kim. We are so pleased to share with you these bold and joyous works made in Juyeon's home studio. A lover of bold colourways and strong forms Juyeon draws upon her South Korean Fine Arts training to bring to life a variety of intriguingly shaped abstract vessels and lamps.
We love the naivete of wan boy-head vases, with their milky pallor and soft blue hair like a washy watercolor sketch in 3D ceramic form. Quirky and cute koala vases are a throwback to the beloved days of the '80s & 90's Australiana of Ken Done and Jenny Kee. A delight in any era! Statement table lamps are the standout pieces here - bold and commanding, they cannot be ignored and appear as absurdist takes on brutalist tradition, the austerity undone with bright colours, finger impressions, movement, and drippy glaze work that is reminiscent of an artist's paint-loaded palette. There is so much to enjoy in these playful pieces, and we welcome you to revel in the wild world of Juyeon Kim at our next event
